Udaipur - Rajasthan’s Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) continues its aggressive crackdown on corruption. After tightening vigilance on police and administrative officials, the bureau has now focused on irregularities inside the Forest Department. In a major operation on December 1, the ACB trapped and caught two forest guards accepting a bribe of ₹80,000 in the Kherwada area of Udaipur district. According to officials, the bribe was demanded for releasing a truck loaded with legally procured timber without initiating action. The Dungarpur ACB unit executed a planned trap and arrested the accused guards—Mahesh Kumar Meena and Vijesh Ahari—from Forest Check Post Katarwas.

Director General of ACB, Govind Gupta, informed that a complainant reported that he and his partner run a legal timber business. Their two trucks carrying eucalyptus and semal wood were seized despite having proper bills. On the morning of November 30, they were informed that truck GJ 09 AU 1283 had been detained and forest guards were demanding a hefty bribe for its release. After verifying the complaint, ACB confirmed that the accused had agreed to accept ₹80,000. A trap was then laid on December 1, 2025, under the supervision of DIG Dr. Rameshwar Singh.

A team led by DySP Ratan Singh Rajpurohit, along with Inspector Rajendra Singh, surrounded the spot. The moment the guards accepted the bribe, ACB caught them red-handed. The team seized evidence and detained both accused. Under the supervision of ADG Smita Srivastava, further interrogation is underway. A case has been registered under the Prevention of Corruption Act, and a detailed investigation has begun.
