Udaipur... City of Lakes... Lake City... Tourist City... Wedding City... or the Land of Mewar

Udaipur city... which is called by not one... not two... many names today. This land, which was once the birthplace of Mewar or Maharana Pratap or say his karmasthali, has its own identity in the world today. Today we will know about this land. What is special about this land... why is it considered different from all others in Rajasthan. Why does it have its own identity all over the world. When was the city of Udaipur established and what changes kept happening in it. Today we know the story of the history of Udaipur city.

History:-

The city of Udaipur was established by Rana Uday Singh II of the Sisodia dynasty in 1558. The city of Udaipur was also the capital of Mewar. It is also called the city of lakes. The first Rana of this city was Uday Singh (1540-1572). After this Maharana Pratap Singh (1572-1597) took over the throne of Mewar. After that Rana Amar Singh (1597-1620), Rana Karan Singh II (1620-1628), Rana Jagat Singh (1628-1652), Rana Raj Singh (1652-1680), Rana Jai Singh (1680-1698), Rana Amar Singh II (1698-1710), Rana Sangram Singh II (1710-1734), Rana Jagat Singh (1734-1751), Rana Pratap Singh II (1751-1754), Rana Raj Singh (1754-1762), Rana Ari Singh (1762-1772), Rana Hamir Singh (1772-1778), Rana Bhim Singh (1778-1828), Rana Jawan Singh (1828-1838), Rana Sardar Singh (1838-1842), Rana Swarup Singh (1842-1861), Rana Shambhu Singh (1861-1874) Rana Sajjan Singh (1874-1884), Rana Fateh Singh (1884-1930) and Rana Bhupal Singh (1930-1947) ruled Udaipur. In 1947, Rajasthan became a part of democracy and the tradition of monarchy was abolished. After this, Maharana Bhupal Singh remained the Maharana of the former royal family till 1955. And he also constructed the huge pond Bhupal Sagar. After this, from 1955 to 1984, Maharana Bhagwat Singh remained the Maharana of the former royal family and after him his adopted son Mahendra Singh was made Maharana. Mahendra Singh remained the Maharana of Mewar from 1984 to 2024 and after his death in 2024, his son Vishvraj Singh was elected Maharana of Mewar. Vishwaraj Singh Mewar is currently an MLA from BJP and his wife

Structure of Udaipur city

The city of Udaipur was formed in 1947 under Rajasthan. After the independence of India, there were significant changes in the structure of Udaipur city. After independence, this city started developing rapidly and many new areas, facilities and institutions were established. The following important structural changes have taken place in Udaipur city and over time this city also came to be known as a tourist city or city of lakes. There are also many beautiful palaces, lakes and gardens here. Which are the center of attraction for tourists.

Education - After independence, many educational institutions were established in the city. Maharana Pratap University, Technical and Management Institute are the major educational centers here.

Roads and transportation - The network of roads in the city also increased over time and transportation facilities improved. Today Udaipur city has direct access to every district of Rajasthan and the railway network extends to every state of the country. There is also direct air connectivity from the city to every state of the country. Due to which people coming here have easy access.

Health Services - Udaipur also has modern hospitals and health services. Which provide better medical facilities to the people.

Industry and Trade - The city has also developed rapidly in the field of industry and trade. Many small and medium-sized industries have been established.

Udaipur has made significant progress in the field of social, economic and cultural development after independence. This city is still known for its beauty and prosperity.

Municipal Council and Municipal Corporation

The Municipal Council was established in Udaipur on 13 October 1959. Earlier, Udaipur Municipal Board was established in December 1922 before independence. Udaipur Municipal Corporation was formed on 29 November 1994 and again became a Municipal Corporation with the selection of the board of public representatives.

Udaipur Assembly constituency is located in Udaipur, Rajasthan state. This area comes under Udaipur Lok Sabha constituency. Udaipur Assembly constituency has been represented by many prominent leaders so far.
