Scam, cheating or fraud...whatever you call it, the common man has been falling prey to it for years. Though there are many types of scams and frauds, but the most common scam in today's time is financial fraud. Many people lose everything due to this scam.

How does financial fraud happen?

Usually financial fraud is done to harm people, financial institutions and big companies. There are many ways to do financial scams-

1. First of all, scammers obtain personal data of people such as passwords and bank details through email, messages or fake websites and then withdraw money from their accounts.

2. Many fraudsters often attract investors by promising huge profits, but in reality they pay the old investors with the money of new investors, which is called Ponzi scam.

3. Many fraudsters hack people's bank accounts and withdraw money from their accounts illegally.

4. Scammers also make financial transactions using stolen credit cards.

5. Many times fraudsters steal a person's personal information and misuse it, such as taking a fake loan or doing banking transactions.

6. Scammers also use insider information illegally in the stock market and make profits, which is called insider trading.

7. Nowadays many scammers obtain people's personal information illegally and threaten digital arrest by posing as fake officers and extort money from people

If we want to avoid these scams and scammers, then we should keep some special things in mind-

1. Do not share your personal details, bank account password or any other personal information on any unknown call, message or email.

2. Before clicking on any link from unknown number or website on your phone, check that link and transact only from trusted websites.

3. Always use trusted and certified platforms for online transactions and investments.

4. Avoid fake offers giving high profits, this is only a deception of fraudsters, in which they trap innocent people and extort money from them.

5. To increase the security of your accounts, set strong passwords and adopt cyber security measures.

6. Before any investment, do proper research and definitely take the advice of an experienced person or your financial advisor.

If a person becomes a victim of any financial fraud, do not panic and immediately report to these places-

1. Inform the bank or payment platform - If the fraud has happened from the bank account or card, then immediately call the bank's customer service or fraud hotline and request to stop or reverse the transaction.

2. Report on the cyber crime portal - You can also register a complaint of financial fraud with you by visiting the Government of India's [Cyber Crime Portal].

3. Register an FIR with the police - In case of fraud, go to the nearest police station and register an FIR with detailed information about the fraud. This will be an important document for future legal action and insurance claim.

4. Contact consumer protection forums - If the fraud has happened by a company or service provider, then contact the [National Consumer Helpline].

5. File a civil suit – If the accused is identified and you want compensation, you can recover damages by filing a claim in court.
