A shocking and heartbreaking incident has emerged from Navy Nagar in Mumbai, where four members of the same family were found dead inside their government accommodation.
The deceased have been identified as 30-year-old Indian Navy sailor Puranmal Mehra, a resident of Kakarana village in Rajasthan’s Jhunjhunu district, along with his wife and their two young children.
According to preliminary information, Puranmal Mehra was found hanging inside the house, while the bodies of his wife and two children were found on a bed in another room.
The incident came to light after family members reportedly failed to contact Puranmal for nearly three days. Concerned relatives then informed Navy officials, following which information about the tragedy reached the family.
The Sailor Was on Leave
Puranmal was reportedly on around 20 days of leave and was not on active duty at the time of the incident. He had joined the Indian Navy in 2015 and got married in 2020.
The couple had two young children—a three-year-old son and a two-month-old daughter.
Police Investigating All Possible Angles
Police and Navy officials have launched an investigation into the deaths. Preliminary reports have indicated that investigators are examining possible family-related issues, along with other potential angles.
However, the exact cause and sequence of events have not yet been officially established. Reports indicate that no suicide note has been confirmed so far, and investigators are awaiting post-mortem and forensic findings.
